Update on CanHelp for Goderich

The devestating tornado that ripped through Goderich in August of 2011 left destruction throughout “Ontario’s Prettiest Little Town” beyond anything the area has seen in the last 15 years. The Advisory Council of Smaller Asset Sized Credit Unions contacted the Foundation and requested our help in soliciting donations for rebuilding efforts. In response, OCUCF launched CanHelp to assist in this endeavour.  As this campaign draws to a close, we are delighted to announce that over $26,000 has been raised through participating credit unions, staff and members!

The Foundation wishes to congratulate the efforts of the following credit unions and their staff for participating in CanHelp and collecting donations from their members:

  • Meridian Credit Union
  • Thamesville Community Credit Union
  • Alterna Credit Union
  • The Fire Department Credit Union
  • Mennonite Savings & Credit Union
  • ETCU Financial
  • Kellogg Employees Credit Union
  • Oshawa Community Credit Union
  • Central 1 Credit Union
  • Several individual donors who will be receiving tax receipts from the Foundation

Tax receipts for personal donations over $10 are being processed and mailed out in the next couple of weeks.

OCUCF Reaches $20K Food Bank Challenge Goal!

The Foundation is pleased to announce that we have reached our matching goal of $20K for local food banks.  We applaud the efforts of the 14 credit unions who participated in the challenge by holding their own local fundraisers for cash and/or non-perishable food items, and then applying to the Foundation for matching funds.  Please take a moment to visit our facebook page and view the photos posted in our 2011/2012 Food Bank Challenge album – http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Ontario-Credit-Union-Charitable-Foundation/228502900559483
